Disney acquires online social network for childrenLos Angeles Times | Feb. 24, 8:43 a.m. PT
The Walt Disney Co. has acquired Togetherville, an online social network for children. Togetherville' Chief Executive Mandeep Dhillon confirmed that his company was purchased by Disney on Friday, but he declined to reveal terms.
Togetherville seeks to mimic the experience of social networks like Facebook in a way that's safe and appropriate for elementary school age children. It is the most recent digital acquisition by Disney, which last summer acquired social gaming company Playdom for $563 million.
