Esperanza Spalding wins best new artist at the Grammy Awards

Esperanza Spalding was awarded the trophy for best new artist at the 53rd Grammy Awards on Sunday night. The Portland native turned heads with her rich brand of jazz fusion -- and her mile-high tresses. The jazz bassist and singer's eponymous album flirts with Latin and Cuban jazz, and the 26-year-old sings in English, Spanish and Portuguese on the disc.
